Aquadeus acquires the mineral water company “Solares”, continuing its expansion
The historic company Manantial de Fuencaliente markets one of the best waters on the market for its medicinal properties
Aquadeus has just acquired the company Manantial de Fuencaliente, marketer of the mineral water “Solares”, recognised as one of the best waters for its medicinal properties, with the aim of strengthening its domestic and international expansion. It was founded in 1828 in the town of Solares, in Cantabria, where its product was declared to be of public utility.
Aquadeus plans to undertake important productive investments to increase the production capacity of Solares, which has a mineral water flow of 40 L/s, equivalent to 1,260 million litres per year. With this third facility, in addition to Aquadeus’ two bottling plants, one in Robledo (Albacete) and the other in Dúrcal (Granada), the company aims to consolidate its leadership in the domestic market and strengthen its presence in the hospitality channel by incorporating new glass bottles in various formats (initially 500 ml and 1000 ml) aimed at this market.
The historic “Solares” brand is present on the shelves of large-scale distribution and in HORECA and, in addition to Spain, it is present on all five continents. The “Solares” water, one of the most awarded in the world, is characterised by a wide range of healthy virtues, especially its medicinal properties for the digestive and renal systems.
Aquadeus has become one of the major mineral water companies in Spain due to the quality of its water, one of the most natural and balanced on the market thanks to its chemical composition, and for having state-of-the-art, high-capacity production lines.
Its philosophy is based on quality, service and innovation. It is strongly involved in environmental, sustainable and social development in its areas of influence.
In terms of the environment, it has lightened the weight of the materials used in its packaging and has improved its products by making them more environmentally friendly, given that 50% of its plastic is recycled and all of its packaging is 100% recyclable. It has also achieved a significant reduction in energy consumption.
In the social sphere, and as a brand linked to sport, Aquadeus highlights among its values its commitment to grassroots sport, clubs and sporting events. It also supports cultural initiatives that help society to promote its identity.
Aquadeus natural mineral waters are ideal for maintaining proper hydration, given their low sodium content (3.6 mg/l), and their consumption is ideal for athletes. It is classified as a bicarbonated, calcium and low sodium water, suitable for the preparation of baby food and for low sodium diets.
Aquadeus belongs to Grupo Fuertes, one of the most important holding companies in the agri-food sector on a European scale, and to the French holding company Alma, number one in Europe by volume of litres of mineral water and soft drinks marketed, with 41 bottling plants.
