The winery chooses new editions of two its most widely known wines in the country and the whole world

Bodegas Luzón has just released the new vintages of its Altos de Luzón and Alma de Luzón wines, 2018 and 2017 respectively, two of its most famous wines in both Spain and the rest of the world, which stand out thanks to their character and distinctiveness.

The Altos de Luzón range in particular is a nod to the special characteristics of the soil of its hometown, Jumilla, and the Monastrell grape which is expertly grown there. The wine-growing history and the people of Jumilla are defined by the town’s rough landscape and character that is full of unique beauty and richness, represented so beautifully on the wines’ labels, which immediately transport you to where they come from, the La Venta del Puerto vineyards, 675 metres above sea level, and the grapes that are used to make Altos de Luzón.

The Altos de Luzón vintage is the culmination of a tough winter followed by a mild spring and summer, which helped produce a good fruit with vines brimming with luxuriance, ensuring an exquisite product for 2018. This wine is an exceptional example of a grape that is native to the DOP Jumilla region and which Bodegas Luzón has turned into its flagship: Monastrell.

Alma de Luzón, on the other hand, is a wine that unites emotion and the senses. It is a unique combination of Monastrell and Syrah, from the velvety touch of its label to the richness of its colour, the red and black berry notes that fuse with the spiced and slightly smoked crianza, without forgetting the fresh and balanced palate.

Unlike the Altos de Luzón vintage, Jumilla experienced an atypical winter in 2017 full of cold and humidity, which was followed however by a very hot spring and summer, marked by sharp contrasts in temperature, resulting in a small harvest producing very concentrated grapes that were overflowing with flavour. Two harvests that were full of doubt but which both brought us an unforgettable fruit that helped create two wines featuring an unforgettable blend and balance, the result of the enormous effort of a team which has managed to produce two unique, high-quality and well-rounded wines that will give you lots to talk about.
