ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN collects the flag which accredits it as European Sport and Healthy Company
First European food company to receive this honour, promoted by the European Parliament
The award was collected by its Human Resources director, Manuel García Juesas
ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN has been declared European Sport and Healthy Company 2018 for its promotion of health and sport among its more than 4,500 workers by ACES Europe and the International Organisation of Human Capital Directives. The flag certifying the award was collected at the European Parliament’s headquarters, by its Human Resources director, Manuel García Juesas.
It is the first European food company to receive this distinction thanks to its
5,000 m2 of sporting space which is for the exclusive use of its staff with a wide range of activities including gymnasium, padel and tennis courts, a covered pavilion designed for indoor football and other sports such as table tennis. The company has invested 170,000 euros in these facilities over the last two years.
The company’s commitment to sport is not only reflected at an internal level, but also it is the main focus of its CSR policy, with sponsorships including the Spanish Paralympic Team, the cycling tour of Spain “La Vuelta”, the Women’s Race or the Indoor football team ElPozo Murcia.
Furthermore, the title recognises ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN’s commitment to promote health in its working environment, through initiatives such as the School of Joint Health, the siesta room, vaccination and blood donation campaigns, healthy menus or the doctors’ services which are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
For this service there are two modern surgeries and a complete team, which includes two doctors, six nurses, three auxiliary assistants and a clinical psychologist, all of them form part of its workforce.
ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN received this recognition during the XVIII awards ceremony of the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES Europe) held on 6th December at the European Parliament’s Headquarters. Guadalajara, Antequera (Malaga), Sant Cugát del Vallés (Barcelona) and Santa Lucía de Tirajana (Las Palmas) are the four new Spanish European cities 2018. The new European Capital of Sport for next year is Sofia (Bulgaria). The city of Nucía (Alicante) was also received an award for Best European Town of Sport.
In addition, ACES Europe confirmed that Budapest (Hungary) will receive this distinction in 2019, Malaga 10 2020, Lisbon (Portugal) in 2021 and La Haya (The Netherlands) in 2022.
