Grupo Fuertes presents its National Food Research Award
Researchers from INIA were recognised for the best scientific work in the areas of livestock and agro-food industries
A group of researchers from the Department of Animal Reproduction at the National Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (SGIT-INIA) have been awarded the ‘Grupo Fuertes National Prize’ for the best work in food research.
The winning project this session, organised by the region’s Academy of Veterinary Sciences, analyses the effectiveness of a treatment on the patterns of weight gain and fat cover and the quality of carcasses and meat. The objective of this research was to achieve greater health benefits for the consumer.
The price was awarded to the project authors by the Manager of Scientific Research at El Pozo Alimentación, Antonio Avellaneda. The researchers belong to the Deputy Directorate General of Research and Technology at INIA and they are: Antonio González de Bulnes, Ana de las Heras, José Luís Pesántez, Marta Vázquez, Consolación García, Susana Astiz and Beatriz Redondo, who, in turn, have donated the prize to the association Vets for Africa.
The Academy of Veterinary Sciences of the Region of Murcia (ACVRM) organises this prize with the aim of recognising the work of the best professionals in the areas of livestock and agro-food industries. The award ceremony was held last night in the Graduates Hall of the Faculty of Law at the University of Murcia.
Grupo Fuertes is the first academic patron of the Academy of Veterinary Sciences of the Region of Murcia, a distinction that recognises the holding company’s contribution to the promotion and development of health sciences.
