Sediasa boosts sustainability with the launch of a solar power project
The company specialising in the parcelling and packaging of food for distribution joins the solar revolution.
Sediasa Alimentación, a company specialising in the parcelling and packaging of food for distribution, part of the Grupo Fuertes holding company, has launched a photovoltaic self-supply project to advance sustainability and make more efficient use of energy.
Sediasa Alimentación promotes the use of renewable energy in its facilities with the establishment of a plant with a peak power of 1,414.8 kW, which means a savings of 1,937 MWh and 745.7 tonnes less CO2 emitted into the atmosphere.
This company, which was founded in 2008 and is located in the Madrid suburb of Rivas-Vaciamadrid, is characterised by its state-of-the-art facilities, with a high degree of automation in the production processes connecting the different areas of production, packaging, and preparation of meat, charcuterie, and breaded meat orders.
In addition to the launch of this initiative, the company collects rainwater to be reused for gardening, cleaning, and sanitation. It has a wastewater treatment plant, acoustic insulation in all its production facilities, energy certification in its offices, environmentally friendly walls, a system for reusing industrial refrigeration, deodorisation equipment, and a centralised energy management system.
