He has received the “Lifetime” award for over 50 years dedicated to the world of livestock

The managing director of Cefusa, Juan Cánovas, has been distinguished with the “Lifetime” award in the third SEPOR Gold national awards, after 51 years dedicated to improving the livestock sector.

Over the course of his long career, Juan Cánovas has promoted milestones that have helped to modernise this sector in Spain, enabling him to achieve his current leadership position. He has led Cefusa, incorporating significant technological advances, and taking care of farms to ensure animal welfare, circular economy and the sustainability of farming and the rural environment.

These awards are the first ones on a national level to unite all the livestock sectors (pork, beef, goat, sheep and poultry), the industry that revolves around them and the agrifood sector, recognising excellence in all of these fields, and it has become a showcase to pay homage to the world of meat. Juan Cánovas has been awarded together with other people and institutions such as the Animal Nutrition Research Group of the Zaidín Experimental Station (Granada) of the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council) or Quintiliano Pérez Bonilla, Doctor in Veterinary Science of the UCM (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), among others.
The awards were decided by a panel made up of representatives of different institutions, associations and well-known figures from the sector, who assessed the work to benefit the sector of those selected.
Cefusa, which was the first livestock company to be awarded the IAWS – Certified Animal Welfare seal by Interporc, with registration number 001, is one of the leading companies in livestock production, dedicated to the breeding and fattening of white pork, Iberian pork and beef. With 51 years of history, Cefusa is a modern, sustainable and dynamic organisation that has developed the implementation of a single, global traceability system based on the total quality of the production process. This not only guarantees the tracking of any batch of animals, whatever the phase, but it also allows for genetic, nutritional and sanitary monitoring throughout the process.
